Free Internet Chess Server, as the name suggests, is a free internet server which allows chess lovers playing chess in real time with real people as opponents. It has about 150,000 registered users and is one of the largest and oldest chess internet servers.

The server allows you to watch the games currently being played, exchange opinions with other players and get rated relative to other chess players from all over the World. On this server you can play standard games as well as blitz chess, baghouse, organize a tournament or a session of simultaneous games.
